Bloom Earth Mattress Reviews

The Expert Verdict
by Romain R

Many mattresses are available in the market, but choosing the right one can be difficult. But, with a Bloom Earth all-foam mattress, it can be easy to achieve a perfect balance of comfort and support. The bed can be an excellent choice for those who love bamboo-charcoal sleep surfaces for a comfortable and supportive night’s sleep.

Its multi-layered foam construction allows an ideal comfort level; the Gel memory foam layer contributes to mattress coolness with pressure relief. At the same time, the bamboo-infused foam layers add breathability through air circulation and keep it fresh. Moreover, the top cover keeps it protected from impurities and keeps it fresh.

As for motion isolation and edge support, the mattress performs averagely due to an all-foam and average-rated quality. The mattress is ideal for those who prefer a safe and hygienic sleep surface. It’s CertiPUR-US certified and uses foams with less VOC or other hazardous materials.

However, we recommend the Douglas Original Mattress if you need a better mattress with great motion isolation and edge support. It has great motion isolation, better edge support, and top-notch cooling performance. Most importantly, Douglas offers a 20-years warranty with a 365-night trial period with CertiPUR-US certification.

Who Do We Recommend the Mattress to?

We recommend the mattress for the following:

  • We recommend the mattress for hot sleepers as it performs well in air circulation and breathability and provides a cool sleep surface.
  • We recommend the mattress for averaged weighted sleepers and some petite sleepers with back and side sleeping positions.
  • We recommend the mattress for sleepers who prefer an all-foam feeling instead of a hybrid or innerspring combination.
  • We recommend the mattress for sleepers who need an average-quality bed at an affordable price.

Avoid the Mattress if?

We recommend avoiding the mattress if you:

  • Are a heavy sleeper above 230 lbs and need a firmer sleep surface.
  • The mattress doesn’t perform well and needs solid or reinforced edge support.
  • Need solid durability, as the bed may start to sag after a few years of use.
  • Are looking for some latest technologies in a mattress for top performance.

Comfort and Firmness

The mattress has a soft-medium firmness that rates 5-5.5 out of 10. This firmness level makes it a great choice for average-weighted sleepers with back and side sleep positions. The 8-inch thick mattress has three layers, all working together to provide a good balance of comfort and support. The top cover has a double jacquard antimicrobial fabric to keep it safe and fresh.

The gel memory foam layer helps to keep the mattress cool while providing great pressure relief and motion isolation support. The aerated bamboo charcoal-infused foam layers promote coolness through breathability and air circulation. Lastly, the convoluted foam layer supports joints and pressure points to help against body and back pains.

Performance

The mattress performs averagely well against most of the sleeper’s requirements. It offers nothing extraordinary except motion isolation, cool sleep surface feeling, and soft-medium firmness support. However, it still needs to improve against edge support, durability, or sagging. Given its price and quality index, it can still hold on to itself for a few years.

Check out below further about how it performs against motion isolation, durability, sagging, breathability, heat transfer, body weight & positions, and back pains.

Is it a Good Mattress for Back Pains?

The Bloom Earth mattress is a good choice for those who sleep on their backs or suffer from back pains. Its memory gel foam layer offers good pressure relief with the additional help of a bamboo charcoal-infused layer to support joints and pressure points.

Together they work well against back pains. However, it may not work well for heavy sleepers or those with stomach sleeping positions.

Sagging and Edge Support

The Bloom Earth doesn’t perform too well against sagging and edge support. The mattress may start to sag after 4-5 years of use, and the edge support isn’t reinforced or too strong without any solid base support at the core.

Therefore, we recommend the Douglas Original mattress as a better alternative. The mattress also doesn’t have reinforced edge support. However, it uses high-quality, high-density foams that won’t sag soon. Plus, its edge support is a little better, although not too great, against other similar ones.

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is a necessity for couples, and it’s one thing that this mattress performs well at. As memory foam mattresses are by default good at motion isolation, the Bloom Earth performs above average as its gel memory foam layer can minimize the motion transfer to too much extent.

But, if you still prefer a better and similar option, we recommend the Douglas Original mattress. Its 6-inch motion isolation support foam at the base performs exceptionally well without compromising over-the-edge support.

Sleeping Position and Weight

The mattress has a soft-medium firmness that rates 5-5.5 out of 10. So, with this firmness level, it becomes a good choice mostly for average-weighted sleepers between 130-230 lbs with side and back sleeping positions. However, some petite sleepers below 130 lbs may require comfort and support for their whole body.

Since stomach and heavy sleepers above 230 lbs need a firmer sleep surface, we recommend they look elsewhere. Douglas Original mattress may work for them as it has a slightly more firm sleep surface that rates 6-7 out of 10.

Breathability and Heat Transfer

The mattress performs well against breathability and heat transfer by providing hot sleepers with a cool and relaxed sleep surface. Its top cover maintains hygiene while the below gel memory foam layer with a bamboo charcoal-infused foam layer works together to provide breathability and airflow for a cool night’s sleep.

However, we again prefer the Douglas Original mattress without discouraging Bloom Earth. It offers a better, cool, relaxed night as it does not retain heat but quickly dissipates it. Furthermore, its top cover has better coolness support for better results.

Durability

Durability is again a concern for the Bloom Earth mattress as it does not have specific warranty support. So, judging from that, it may start to sag or lose shape even though the foams have good quality.

We recommend the Douglas Original mattress as it uses high-quality materials, and the foam has high density to last relatively longer. Moreover, it offers a 20-years solid warranty with a 365-night trial period which only a handful of brands offer.

  • Shipping:The shipping is free for most Canadian households and would charge a shipping fee for some locations.
  • Warranty:The mattress warranty period isn’t clear and needs confirmation beforehand.

Our Verdict

The mattress is a good average choice for most sleepers with side and back positions. Hot sleepers and couples looking for motion isolation will benefit the most. However, its below-average edge support, undefined durability, sagging issues, and undetermined warranty period may not make it a popular choice.

Therefore, we recommend the Douglas Original as a better choice. It offers better edge support and coolness for hot sleepers and does not sag anytime soon.
